Bathroom Zones. |
| |
|
Using electrical equipment in bath or
shower rooms has always needed care to ensure
safety. The IEE Wiring Regulations (16th Edition)
identified particular zones within the bathroom to
indicate what type of electrical equipment that can
be installed, these zones have now been updated by
the 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations. |

Economy 10 and other off peak
Electricity tariffs. |
| |
|
To maximise the benefits of lower running costs we
strongly recommend the use of off-peak electricity,
which is now available during the day at selected
times, depending on who your provider is. Until 2004
the only off-peak tariff available was the popular
Economy 7, which was designed predominately for
night storage heaters. |

| How
to get the most out of your Economy 7 storage
heaters. |
| |
In
order to get the best use from this heating system
you must use the weather forecasts and decide what
your heating needs will be for the next day. A
storage heater cannot produce instant heat but if
the controls are set correctly it can often provide
adequate levels of heating
for a length of time. |

Savings on household appliances |
| |
|
Economy 7 provides seven hours of low cost
electricity every day, between 1am and 8am in winter
and 2am and 9am in summer (times may vary slightly -
if in doubt please call 08457 455 455). Your fridge
and freezer will automatically benefit but you can
make further savings by using washing machines,
tumble driers and dishwashers during the low cost
periods. For safety reasons it is best to use
appliances towards the end of the low rate period so
they can be supervised. |

Electrical heating to overtake gas by 2018 |
| |
The number of
electrical boiler and electrical heating system
installations is set to overtake their gas
counterparts in 10 years’ time, predict industry
groups.
The anecdotal forecast was issued after a member of
the Association of Registered Gas Installers told
H&V News that residential landlords were
increasingly replacing their old gas boilers with
electrical boilers or water heaters. |
